Ted's Hangar 9 Warbird

When it comes to warbird models, the P-51, Corsair and the AT-6 "Texan" seem to always bubble up to the top of everyone's "favorites" list. Ted Zaborski's SNJ (the US Navy's variant of the AT-6 advanced trainer) comes as a Hangar 9 ARF that includes nice scale details and factory installed retracts. First seen at the field mid-season last year, Ted powers his 67.5" span model with a OS .91 four-stroke which provides ample power and a nice, throaty sound as he makes one of his inverted strafing runs down the field. Ted's only complaint was that the retracts would not stay aligned and collapsed on landing several times. He resolved this by locking the gear into the down position. Although it does not look as streamlined, Ted reports no major ill-effect on flight characteristics.
xxxxAfter a couple of months putting the model through its paces, Ted purchased a new cowl and canopy to restore the plane to "like new" condition for our Demonstration Day at Plains Park in Milford this past October. It looks...and flies great!
