Thanks for a Great Season!

Winter is almost here, however, we are all looking forward to any moderate days when we can still fly without snow! I would like to thank the Board of Directors; Brad Kaye, Dave Seale and Roger Gilman. I also want to take the opportunity to acknowledge all of our members for a great 2008 season. As always, it was a team effort.
... Our annual banquet was very well attended. It was a good time topped off with a movie starring Buzz. Great job Brad! Buzz is in safe hands until his next jump.
... On another note, my wife always accuses me of being stubborn and determined to do as I please. Well, on Veteran’s Day I stopped by the field to see if anyone was flying. What I came upon was three of our "youngest" members who were determined to rescue a plane in trouble. The mission was completed with Chainsaw Charlie in command.

Please try to attend the meeting on Tuesday, November 25 where we will discuss the many issues we are facing for the 2009 season.

Remember, height is your friend...

Bill O'Donnell
2008 MMAC President

2008 Annual Family Banquet

The club's 29th season was celebrated in style on Sunday, October 26 at the Coachman's Lodge in Bellingham, MA. The 45 (or so) guests included members, spouses, family and friends. Everyone enjoyed drinks, a fantastic family-style meal and the opportunity see what we all look like without dirty jeans, hats and sunglasses.

Bill and Maureen O'Donnell worked very hard over the weeks prior to the banquet to provide a varied selection of gifts to stock the raffle table. No one walked home empty-handed!

lloyd The star of the evening was non-other than our club skydiving miniature man of action...Buzz! Pictured here with his trainer and medical consultant, Brad "We Can Rebuild Him" Kaye, Buzz has gone on to star in his own action video.
stick Working with her third club president, Eliza McCoy once again expertly handled raffle ticket distribution and selection while Bill O'Donnell announced winners. Eliza can be see elsewhere in this issue of the Yankee Flyer as the club's "Hat Model."

In addition to the usual festivities, we selected the winning ticket for the club's Pilot's Choice Raffle. MMAC member, Franklin Dickie was the lucky winner...choosing the Hangar 9 Showtime 90 ARF as his prize. Thank you to all who participated, especially Bob Rice at Hobby USA in Ashland for donating both great raffle prizes. Congratulations, Franklin!
... So, with this year's Family Banquet behind us, many of us will return to our workshops to repair, build and start planning the for next season. Before we hibernate, however, we need to thank Bill and Maureen O'Donnell, Brad Kaye and his family, Scott Annis, Buzz the Skydiver and the rest of the folks that worked hard to make the 2008 MMAC Family Banquet a success!

Secretary Heading
Club Meeting
October 26, 2008

The meeting was held during the annual banquet at the Coachman’s Lodge in Bellingham. Club president Bill O’Donnell brought the meeting to order. A motion to accept the September secretary’s report as stated in the October 2007 Yankee Flyer was made and seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
There was no treasurer’s report given this month.

Bill announced that the current club officers were all returning for the 2009 season. They are as follows:

President ... Bill O’Donnell
Vice President ... Brad Kaye
Secretary ... Roger Gilman
Treasurer ... Dave Seale

The next club meeting is the annual meeting and it is scheduled for November 25 at 7:30 at the Legion Hall in Millis. At this meeting the active membership votes on dues and the membership quota for 2009.
... The banquet was a great success. Special thanks go to Bill O’Donnell for organizing the annual banquet this year. Hopefully Brad can make available the movie he put together in honor of our special guest.Brad, great job on the movie and it was funny too.
... I would also like to thank the other board members Bill, Brad and Dave, for making this a successful and enjoyable year. It has been a pleasure working with you all and I look forward to 2009.

Regards,
Roger Gilman
MMAC Secretary

OK...so I received this video from as many as six club members and three family friends...all of which RAVED about it! There was no doubt that it needed to be the Picture of the Month!

Some of you will remember the video featured in the May issue of the Yankee Flyer that showed the RC plane that lost a wing and landed safely. Well, this video claims to show a full-scale plane in the same predicament. I've watched it maybe 30 times, and I'm still not quite sure it's legitimate. There's something not quite right about the final few seconds. But...you be the judge!
