Dave Seale Receives Kempf
Founder's Award
Tom Kempf was one of the founding members of MMAC in the early '70s.
It was with his insistence that MMAC be formed
as a formal club and he was instrumental in the development of our site in Millis that served us so well for almost 25 years. He was our first president and served on the board in various capacities. If there was a job to be done, Tom was there to help make it happen.
... It is in this spirit that the executive board created the Tom Kempf Founder’s Award several years ago to acknowledge the efforts of one individual who exhibits the same tenacity and positive attitude as our founding members. A member who has shown himself to be a leader…who gives of himself to further the goals of club and its members. This person pitches in without question to “get the job done” and – most importantly – inspires others to do the same. This is the spirit that has fueled the engine of our membership since the beginning…and creates the atmosphere that will ensure the continued success of our club for many years to come. The alumni in this select group include Bill Costello, Bill Lloyd, Jack Squier and now...Dave Seale.
... Dave joined MMAC about ten years ago and almost immediatly volunteered his time to club activities. He has served on the executive board as club treasurer for many of those years, faithfully and accurately keeping track of our finances. He was editor and publisher of the club newseller for several seasons, writing dozens of entertaining and enlighting articles over his tenure...and always striving to keep the membership informed of what was going on in both MMAC and the hobby in general. In fact, the title Yankee Flyer was his contribution that continues today.
... There are only a few club events that Dave had not participated in over the past decade. He almost always displays a model at Winter Projects Night...and generally he brings more than than just the one aircraft. He has contributed his time and muscle to our spring clean-ups and field improvements. He's influenced just about every meeting, fun-fly, demonstration, presentation and public outreach that we have ever done.
... Dave's contributions to the inner workings of our club as well as our reputation with other clubs and the general public at large have been siginificant and far-reaching. And, it is safe to say that we would not be as successful as we are today without his influence...and we all owe him a great big "THANK YOU!"
