It seems as if summer has finally arrived and flying is getting better every day!
... I am working on a material estimate for the proposed club field shelter and should have it completed for the next meeting on July 28. Hopefully, we can finalize our plans and get construction underway soon.
... I was recently in contact with Charles River Radio Controllers’ president, John Eppling. He informed me that he arrived at Bill Martin Airfield a couple of weeks ago and was met by a woman there who insisted that he could not fly that day because they were about to have a “surprise” wedding at the site! After a short discussion, the group agreed to leave (un-hitched we assume) and take their party elsewhere. If anyone has any additional information to add to this unusual episode, please let me know. Perhaps we should consider sub-leasing the field for weddings instead of raffles!
... I have continued to keep in touch with Amy Holcomb regarding John’s condition. He was recently moved from the ICU at Newton Wellesley Hospital to Spaulding Rehabilitation on Nashua Street in Boston, and has shown great improvement. He still needs our thoughts and prayers to help him and his family though this very trying situation.
... Remember that our second Fun-Fly of the season is coming up on Saturday, August 1 at Bill Martin Airfield. I have some good ideas for two fun events courtesy of Bill Costello. There’s a landing fee of $10 and the usual pilot’s meeting at 9AM with an event start of 10AM. We’re looking forward to another good turnout…weather permitting, of course!

REMINDER: The July 28 club meeting is at Bill Martin Airfield. Come early and bring a plane to fly prior to our short business meeting at 7PM. The gate will be open for the meeting. In case of inclement weather, we'll lock the gate closed as a signal that we've moved the meeting back to the American Legion..

Club Meeting
June 30, 2009

The meeting was held at the Medfield flying field and brought to order by club president Bill O’Donnell. A motion to accept the May secretary’s report as stated in the June 2009 Yankee Flyer was made and seconded. The motion passed. The treasurer’s report was given by Bill Costello for Dave Seale.
For the month of June:

Checking .$4,744.85 . .CD .$2,043.97
Income .$305.00 . .Expense .$0.00

A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made and seconded. The motion passed.
. Bill O’Donnell thanked Bill Costello for running the fun-fly held on June 27. Bill Costello will work with Dave Seale to spread GrubX on the field.
. Bill discussed the shade shed. Little progress has been made on the design details and the state has yet to be contacted. I will pursue the state approval process during the coming month.
